| It wasn't all THIS bad... |
Welcome to the second round of my Pacific Crest Trail speed hiking journal. On May 25th, 2015, I left the Mexican border at 5:50 am on my second attempt at breaking the unsupported PCT speed hiking record. Having attempted this feat once before in 2012, hiking over 1860 miles in 42.5 days, I knew I had a good shot at breaking the speed record and achieving my personal goal of hiking the entire trail in under 60 days. The winter had been one of the most pitiful on record for the entire west coast, meaning the snowpack was nonexistent (it had stopped me in 2012) and having hiked the trail fast once before, I had the first hand knowledge and experience from which to learn and refine my hiking strategy. But, most importantly of all, I knew I could do it.
Come browse the pages of my blog/trail journal and enjoy the photos and stories of the struggles and triumph that I experienced while hiking over 46 miles per day.
Each day I recorded an audio journal of the previous day's experiences which I have transcribed into text and added photos to. Also, the unedited audio journals are available to listen to and can be downloaded from the links in the panel on the right side. I have also included a few pages outlining the gear I used and some of my favorite gear companies as well as links to invaluable trail planning resources that will aid anyone in planning a thruhike of the PCT.
Please Enjoy!~
